Yes, I know, snowflakes are WHITE, but the MAJOR complaint I have heard over and over again is that SnowDays doesn't have any color options.  Let's face it, the site's MAIN "popularity" comes from its ARTISTIC aspect, and artists want the freedom to play with COLORS!

Ever since MisterX.ca was first published, SnowDays artists started sending me their re-vamped flakey creations.  I was astonished to see what they had done with their flakes by uploading the images into various other programs and coloring them.  It is an often over looked "option" to flaking that most flakers never attempt, but I think it is something that should be properly "x"posed in the flake section of MisterX.ca, and after YEARS of considering doing so, I am FINALLY going to create a page about it!

That being said, I NEED YOUR HELP!

If you have "x"perience with ANY image manipulating programs, I want to see what YOU can come up with!  For that matter, even if you do NOT have "x"perience, you are certainly invited to try your luck at it ;)  IF there is enough interest in this, I am going to create a PERMANENT PAGE at the site, (on the SNOWDAYS PAGE), that shows off these worX of art, and it will give YOU a permanent mention at MisterX.ca (should one or more of your colored creations be chosen for display there).

I do NOT care if you are a current flaker, or if the last flake you made at SnowDays was 5 years ago.  Actually, I don't really care if you have EVER made a flake at SnowDays yourself!  This is about taking an image from the site, and making it YOUR OWN by coloring it, or otherwise 'manipulating' it with an 'outside' program of your choice.  This page will be about how the artwork at SnowDays can be "just the beginning" of a FINAL piece by ANY "artist".

( 1 ) - You may use ANY flake created at SnowDays as your "starting image".  It can be a flake created by YOU, or ANY other artist.  I WILL want the original flake's number and artist's name though please, (I will make a link to the original flake image).

( 2 ) - You may use ANY program to "play with" the flake image. You may also use MORE than one program if you please.  I will want to know the name(s) of the program(s) you used to create your image.

( 3 ) - You have FULL ARTISTIC FREEDOM in your creation(s).  What you make is up to YOU!  It can be a "static" image, or even animated if you please.  There are ABSOLUTELY NO RESTRICTIONS on your creativity, as long as (obviously) the image is "different" in some manner.  You don't even need to actually ADD color.  Just make something that YOU like!  You can submit a mere "crop" of a flake, or add your own images to one.  Be as creative as you please, it is TOTALLY up to YOU.

( 4 ) - You are welcome to submit as many creations as you please.  They can be something you've created in the past, or something NEW that was created for this contest.  I will choose one or more of your images that I think will look good at the site and are good "x"amples of what folks can do if they want to!  I will (of course) give you the credit you deserve on each of them ;)

( 5 ) - Please submit each of your creations INDIVIDUALLY.  Include the original flake number, the artist's name, the program(s) you used to create the image, and your new worX name/title, (if applicable), in your submission.  Please include your name/alias as you would like it to appear, and any personal web site linX you'd like me to include.  Each image sent to me should have an email subject line entitled "colored flake submission" to ensure I don't "miss" it!

( 6 ) - High quality images will likely get chosen above "choppy" or "sloppy" creations.  Also, (in case you haven't noticed), I tend to prefer images on darker backgrounds.  These are just "hints", and you are NOT "x"pected to follow these guide lines.  Images submitted will likely be resized, but I DO prefer a maXimum resolution of 1024 X 768.  ;)

( 7 ) - Images submitted will become the copyrighted property of MisterX.ca (X-Site) unless you otherwise inform me of your own copyright privileges.  Regardless, your image will NOT be used for financial gain by MisterX.ca without your prior permission and/or without personal compensation to you.

So this "contest" doesn't really have a "prize" as such, other than the fact that YOU will get a permanent mention at the site, and will have your artwork "x"posed for (hopefully) YEARS to come!

As mentioned, if your submission is picked for display, I will give credit to YOU (your name and/or alias), your site, (if applicable), and your artwork will be seen to be "oooo'd & awww'd" at by the masses!   (hee-hee!)  I'm SURE there are a few of you out there that would enjoy the "x"posure!

I will start creating a page as the submissions come in (if I like the submissions, that is!), and will inform the participants chosen as to whether their creations are being used.  I would like AT LEAST TEN different artists' worX, so if this anticipated projection falls short, I will NOT make the page.  I will likely leave submissions open for at LEAST a couple of weeks, and will inform my MAILING LIST of its progression.

I KNOW you flakey ARTISTS are "out there", so PLEASE send me at least one submission and make this page a reality!  :D

Here is an image that EMMI/UK created with a flake made by FLAKE FAN....

And here is a simple "zoomed in on" image of a distortion flake, (made by either myself, or PM...I can't remember).  No color has been added, but the image has been "manipulated" and speaks for itself!

As you can see, I am NOT looking for anything "specific", but rather- I am looking for images that are original and "personal".  I think that this will be a fun project for any of you interested in it, and I can assure you, there will be MANY folks interested in seeing what this "contest" has to eventually offer!  :D
