The Zooming Star is a great flake that's easy to make!  You get the effect of a star flying out from the center of the flake, and then can fill in the outside of the Star any way you see fit.  This is a combination move of the Super Nova and Star Flakes.

NOTE: Before attempting this move you should have already mastered making NEGATIVES, STAR FLAKES, and SUPER NOVAS, as well as have read SMOOTH ANIMATIONS

STEP ONETurn your snowflake into a NEGATIVE

STEP TWOMake Cut #1 as shown above.  You will have a tiny white STAR FLAKE in the center of your flake.
Start the cut SLIGHTLY inside the flake, and end it SLIGHTLY inside the flake.

STEP THREE: Make Cut #2.  The previous Star will disappear and be replaced with a new "hollow" Star.
The "growing Star" has now begun!

STEP FOURContinue with your cuts until the Star reaches the bottom of the flake.  As "x"plained in
SMOOTH ANIMATIONS, the closer in appearance your cuts are, the smoother the animation will be.

STEP FIVE: The Star has now reached "adulthood"!  Fill in the area around it however you see fit.
The flake space left is already negative (black), so you can cut white shapes into it freely   : D

Remember!  The closer and thinner the lines of the Star are, the longer and smoother the animation will appear!

UPDATE!
Since posting the above instructions I have learned that the center of the Star can also be filled in.  You will
need to use one of the flake reconstruction methods to do it, such as described in Fiber OptiX.
