CHECKING SNOWDAYS
SNOWFLAKE RESPONSES
by "X"

What a strange subject for me to be covering.  What can possibly be learned about making the flakes fall at Snow-
Days? After all, we all know how to click on an email link and have it open another window, so what else is there?

It is because I used to open my email linX as described above that I am making this page.  Not only did I open a new page every time I checked my SnowDays Greetings and Responses, I did it for a lonnnnng time, (to the point that it became aggravating!), and I think it is most certainly worth men-
tioning here at MisterX.ca. Older flakers and folks with a lot of computer time behind them will most likely know most or all of these "shortcuts", but
newer flakers and especially folks with little computing time should find a lot of this info new and Xciting.  Whether you're an "old" flaker or a "new"
flaker, read on and see what you can add to your "flaking resume".  After all, the more time we save checking our email, the more time we will have
to "FLAKE ON"!

It should be noted that I use YaHoo! mail for most of my email, so the screen shots below may appear slightly
different than your email does at home, however, these "tips" will work on your email too, so just follow along :)

The above image shows a typical email response.  To see the flake this response refers to,
just click on the link and a new window will appear of SnowDays and the flake will fall.  As
noted in other areas of MisterX.ca, this will cause the flake to fall "unfolded".  To see a flake's
animation, you will have to manually enter it's number into the FIND-a-FLAKE  feature.

As mentioned, when you click on your link a new window will open at SnowDays.  If you find the opening animation
too long, here is a shortcut for you.    Right click when you see the thermometer appear and click on "forward".  The
thermometer will disappear and the animation will continue from the point it would have when the thermometer
went away naturally.  This is just one of the kewl features the SnowDays Flash program has when we right click!   :)

(RIGHT CLICK TO GET RID OF THAT PESKY, TIME CONSUMING THERMOMETER!  THANX TO THOMAS/COLORADO FOR THIS KEWL TIP!)

If you already have a window of SnowDays open, you do not need to open another one to
view the snowflake mentioned in your email.  Instead, you can just "cut and paste" the flake's
number into the Find-a-Flake search feature at SnowDays.  To do this is simple.  Just LEFT
CLICK and run your cursor over the link's flake number, which appears at the end.  Highlight
that flake number and do the following....

Once you have the flake number highlighted, RIGHT CLICK and choose "COPY".

Now go to your SnowDays window and click the "Find-a-Flake" feature that appears there.  You will
see the above window open.  Click on the "#" boX which will make it blank and RIGHT CLICK your
mouse and click on "PASTE"

Your snowflake number from the email will magically appear in the Find-a-Flake search window.
Now click on SEARCH and the flake you want to see will fall!

MAKING A FLAKE FALL OPENED

With all the fine detailed flakes being made at SnowDays these days, I increasingly am asked how to make a flake fall opened so folks can see its falling animation against the SnowDays sky.  This is especially important with flakes like PM's Distortion Flakes, as they have an animation that can not be viewed any other way than if they are seen "pre-opened" and falling in their full unfolded glory! (rather than clicking on a "dot" snowflake)

Here is how THAT is done....

Go take a look at the location window of your browser, which tells you
"where you are" on the internet.  It should appear something like the
above shot if you clicked on an email link to get to SnowDays.

LEFT click just behind the web address.  On my browser (Internet
"X"plorer) this will cause the entire address to be highlighted.  Your
browser may not do this step, so go on to the neXt step :)

LEFT click again and you should get a "blinking" cursor behind the
web address.

Backspace the flake number out of the web address.  When I do this I
get a bunch of "recent" SnowDays addresses I have visited that I can
click on.  If you also do, IGNORE THIS!

As mentioned above on this page, you can now right click and paste the flake's
number at the end of the web address.  Of course you can also manually type in the flake's
number here.

Once you have replaced the flake number with the one you want to
see, press "ENTER" and a new, refreshed window of SnowDays will open
and you will see the flake fall fully opened up against the SnowDays sky.

So there you have it!  All you need to know when checking your responses. I hope you found at least some of this infor-
mation useful.    If you have another tip on this subject that does not appear here,  please let me know and I will add it in ;)

Happy and QUICK email checking to you!  - X -
