Ready for the neXt BIG SnowDays "trend"? Well, here it is!
The
ALT ONLY method is by far the easiest of the straight lined techniXes and
has
proven to be most addictive to the folks that already know how it is done.
Shortly after releasing Mark Six's ALT+TAB instructions, I received a short letter from Toni/Leicester describing how she only needed to press her ALT key to make straight lines, which she found much easier to use. I tried the technique myself, but found that when I used only the ALT key, it would make my screen jump up and down, (not a good thing when you are trying to make straight lines!) I also found the ALT+TAB technique frustrating, as you "jump" between 2 windows and I often could not place my cuts "x"actly where I wanted to. So I went back to making my lines freehand.
Then recently, while playing around with the new features in Internet "X"plorer 7, I was making a flake on a FULL SCREEN and found that the ALT technique worked perfectly fine, with no more jumping of the screen. Making flakes this way is so addictive that I haven't even made my scribbled 1-cuts since discovering I can use it, and we all know how addicted I was to those! Here finally, are the instructions for this powerful flaking tool.
NOTE
TO MAC COMPUTER OWNERS: THESE INSTRUCTIONS WON'T WORK FOR YOU, BUT
DON'T GIVE UP ON STRAIGHT LINES.
I
HAVE A "SECRET" FOR YOU, JUST CONTACT ME AND ASK! :)
As
mentioned above, it should be noted that I am using Internet "X"plorer

What is an
"ALT KEY"?
The
ALT key is used by MANY programs for MANY different applications.
With Internet "X"plorer and SnowDays, you can use it to allow a "pause"
in your cut and can then move your pointer to another area of the flake
with no cut line following it. Press the ALT key and the cut line
will go from point A to point B and it will be PERFECTLY STRAIGHT!
The ALT keys are located on the bottom line of keys on your keyboard.
You will only need to press one of the ALT keys when trying out this kewl technique, so pick your favourite!
Cut
a line to where you'd like your design to begin. Press an ALT button
once and release your mouse button.
Now
move your pointer to another area of the flake, notice there is no cut
line made.
Now
press your ALT button again. A perfect straight line will appear
between the 2 ALT points.
Now
press down the ALT key again and move your pointer to where you'd like
it, notice
the
cut line is waiting until you press the ALT again to make the neXt straight
line.
Click
your mouse button when you want to end your design
So,
to sum things up, you press your left mouse button at the beginning of
the technique until you 1st press your ALT button and release it.
You then also release your mouse button and move your pointer to where
you want it. Press the ALT again and a straight line will appear
between point A and Point B. Press the ALT again and move your pointer
to point C. Press again and a line appears between Point B and Point
C and so on....
Press
your left mouse button a second time when you have finished the design.
This is how to make a ONE CUT ALT ONLY design. You can also make
flakes with several cuts with this technique, just keep adding to the design!
If
your screen "jumps" when you click the ALT, try it again with a FULL SCREEN.
(You
should find your FULL SCREEN option under TOOLS)
Playing
with fine, even spaced lines can make for simple, but beautiful designs
that can be made very quickly.
You
can play around with really fine lines and even get distortions!
Naturally, the more
fine
lines your flake has, the prettier it will sparkle as it falls!
Of
course with this kewl technique, you can make straight lines ANYWHERE and
in ANY DIRECTION,
so
the designs will be endless and limited only by your imagination.
Also, this kewl trick is Scissor Police approved,
so
you can chop away practically forever!
I
KNOW you will enjoy this wonderfully easy way to make straight lines!
