Once a flaker learns all the Tips'n'TriX and has combined them in every way imaginable, they may start to think there is nothing else to learn or "x"perience at SNOWDAYS. I've felt this way myself, but over time have discovered that this is a complete misconception! Combining the various "triX" continues to "x"pose new and "x"citing moves that are completely different from anything else we flakers have done in the past.
I happen to know that Marilyn was feeling quite uninspired and rather "BLA" just before discovering this new and fascinating technique. It just goes to show you that when you are feeling this way it is time to try something COMPLETELY DIFFERENT and see how the SNOWDAYS program will respond.
-----------------------------------------------------
"Sort
of" like PM's Mega Star move. "Sort of" like L's Fiber OptiX.
...BUT
COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!!!

SILVERY FLOWER FLAKE
1.
Start in the positive field. Make a cut just above the bottom margin
and just a little right of the left margin. Move the cursor to the
right and upwards as shown. (Notice the start
point! I end right on the upper TIP of the triangle for an "x"quisite
INFINITY FLAKE finish! -X-)
Once
the cut is complete, your flake should look like the illustration below.
-----------------------------------------------------
2.
Reverse your flake. Your flake should look like this.
-----------------------------------------------------
3.
Repeat step one. Your flake will look the one below.
(Remember
your start point starts slightly left of the margin and to finish on the
tip again! -X-!)
-----------------------------------------------------
4.
Reverse your flake and continue with steps 1 – 3 until you reach the top
of the flake. Near the top your flake will look like the one below.
This
is that step in the positive.
(Just
turn your flake negative and the rest of the design will turn white at
this point! -X-)
-----------------------------------------------------
5.
When your flower gets as small as you want to make it (above), start reversing
the entire flake until you get back to the illustration below again.
(To
start "reversing" the design, you actually are making POSITIVE FLIPS in
this stage. This can be accomplished with a simple line drawn under
the design as described HERE. -X-)
-----------------------------------------------------
6.
This is the point at which you will begin to fill in the empty space.
Starting at the top and going down the right side of the flake pass the
bottom margin, make a loop to the right and go back up to the inside of
the negative space trace back to the left without stopping, as shown below.
X-NOTE:
There are SEVERAL ways to reconstruct a flake! For instance, you
could do several Negative flips at this stage and go back to the design
shown in the latter pic on stage 4 and then use L's FIBER OPTIX reconstruction
method. Also, for Xtra animation, you could go back to the
design in stage 4 described above, then do positive flips again back to
the design shown above and THEN do your flake's reconstruction.
Also,
I do this stage 6 cut in the opposite direction as Marilyn described above.
Whether you use her directional style of top to bottom, or mine (shown
below) from bottom to top, it is important to make your "loop" below the
bottom line of the flake's triangle! Make sure it is done ENTIRELY
below the bottom line and save yourself a lot of trouble!
Also,
note how Marilyn's line is done above the white design, while my line goes
through the white design. You can play with where you place these
reconstructive lines for various kewl results!
-----------------------------------------------------
7.
Your flake should look like the one below.
-----------------------------------------------------
8.
Continue with this step until you have filled in as much as you want.
-----------------------------------------------------
You
can embellish your flake with any of the other techniques if you like.
Below is how I chose to finish this flake, number 2394146. I'm sure
you will find other ways to finish yours. Happy flaking! :
)
-Marilyn-
(Marilyn
turned the design in Stage 9 into a negative and then cut the finishing
design seen above into it!)
-----------------------------------------------------
Many
thanX to Marilyn for discovering and sharing yet another wonderful technique!

(Marilyn
is a GRAND MASTER flaker who has contributed in various areas and aspects
of this site. Learn more about her and her flaking styles HERE!)
UPDATE!
Marilyn does it again and has added a kewl variance to this technique!
DISSOLVING
POINTS
After
mastering the Silver Flower Flake technique, try using the above red cut
instead, leaving a "bit" of the
previous
white line "x"posed. Continue doing so and you will end up with a
Grid like corner to your design!
HAVE
FUN!
