X's
SCRIBBLED ONE CUTS
SILVERY
STAR WEBS
Well,
unless you are very new to SnowDays, you have probably seen MANY of my
Silvery Star Webs.

Likely
the most popular of my Scribbled One Cuts, these flakes REALLY catch and
radiate light and will often pulse when falling unfolded.

All
very similar in appearance, as they are created the same way, but each
one has its own subtle differences.

Here,
finally, is the way I create them. They SEEM easy, but will take
practice and "x"perimentation to get "the look".
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Of
course you will want to try and keep your lines as uniform as possible.
How far you space the lines will make a difference in the appearance of
the flake as well. If you are having troubles with this, try the
Slow Snow effect located HERE, as
it can help with the "training" until you get the feel for making these
flakes. In STEP ONE (below), start at the "S" and scribble back and
fourth as shown, notice how I left room for the ApeX (the white part of
the flake).
Take
your scribble up to where it is shown above. This is an approXimate
stop line before making the ApeX. Again, "x"perimenting where you
start and stop the above scribble will affect the flake's final appearance.
Now make the ApeX, as described on the previous
page and shown below.
For
clarity, I have shown the horizontal scribbles in gray and the vertical
scribbles in black, but remember this is a One Cut flake, so you do NOT
release the mouse button until ALL the scribbles have been accomplished.
Also notice that I make several vertical (up & down) scribbles BEFORE
actually entering the flake. You don't need to do this, but I find
it helps in the "feel" so I can make more uniform lines when entering the
flake.
And
that's it! SIMPLE, right?!
----------------------------------------------
"X"tending
the ApeX
Oooo!
This one is certainly BRIGHT! That's because the ApeX "x"tends beyond
the middle of the flake. This is achieved by leaving some white space
on the left side of the triangle while making your horizontal scribbles.
--------------------------------
Creating the
ApeX with horizontal scribbles only
Once
you get good at these, you can actually create the apeX with NO vertical
scribbles. Just gradually leave more space along the left side of
the triangle as you do your horizontal scribbles!
-------------------------------
These flakes are TONS of fun and HIGHLY ADDICTIVE! Once you grasp them they are also VERY quick to make. Delete the "ugly babies" and send the pretty ones off to the masses. Don't forget to watch your own flake fall unfolded, as this is a BIG part of the fun & addiction!
ENJOY!
