THE TEMPLATE IMAGES
Below
are some various sizes of my ORIGINAL TEMPLATE. For your convenience,
I have included both
Left
and Right sides so you can "play" on both sides of your flake! The
vertical line should be lined up
with
either side of the creation triangle at SnowDays.
Remember, you can make your OWN templates to play with!
This
particular TEMPLATE is wonderful because it will give you "x"cellent proportions
on your faces at
SnowDays.
"Play with it" for a while and when you are comfortable making right side
up faces on both
sides
of your creation triangle, try a few upside down ones. If you are
fortunate enough to have IE7 on
your
puter, try resizing your triangle to make Micro Faces, or Mega Faces.
These are either very tiny
faces
or the maXimum sized Face Flake you can achieve with the SnowDays program.
This TEMPLATE is ALSO wonderful because you will eventually make faces that are uniquely YOURS from it!
Once
you feel you have "mastered" this template and all that it has to offer,
it is time to make your
OWN
templates. You can either make one from a Face Flake you created
with this template that you
think
came out particularly well, or create one from another flaker's Face Flake
that you especially
admire.
You can make your own template from anywhere once you understand the concept
of tracing
out
a TEMPLATE and again, re-tracing that image onto a flake at SnowDays.
:)
OK, OK!
Enough GAB!
(Well,
just a weeee bit more!)
If
you are going to trace these images, get your paper and pen(cil) ready!
(Line
up the vertical line with the edge of your paper, plastic sheet, etc.
Afterwards, line up
your
template's edge with either the left or right side of your SnowDays creation
triangle. :)
If
you want to use PM's kewl variation with the transparent windows, just
right click and save the image(s)
of
your choice below onto your computer. (With this method, you'll
want to use the vertical line in the
drawing
to line up with the edge of your SnowDays creation triangle.)
(PLEASE
NOTE: YOU WILL HAVE TO SAVE THE LEFT & RIGHT SIDES OF THE BELOW IMAGES
INDIVIDUALLY.
THEY
MAY LOOK LIKE ONE IMAGE, BUT ARE ACTUALLY 2 SEPARATE IMAGES SITTING SIDE
BY SIDE.)

Oooooooooo,
what an EASY little drawing it is!
Well,
at least on paper. You might need to make a few flakes before they
won't look like "malformed
tomato
heads", or something even worse! As always, practice will make
PERFECT, so don't give up.
For
the 1st FEW faces you make from this template, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that
you follow the lines
of
the TEMPLATE as closely as you can. Review your 1st few F.F.'s and
see what you like and also what
you
dislike about them. Do you want to make variations to the eyes, lips,
or hair? If so, that is GREAT!
Doing
so is what will make these faces YOURS, and yours alone! Careful
though, you don't want to change
things
TOO much, because the proportions of this TEMPLATE are near PERFECT!
Whether
you have NEVER made a Face Flake, or are already a seasoned PRO at them,
I guarantee you will benefit
from
this ever so kewl TEMPLATE!
Trace
it, use it, "x"periment with it, HAVE FUN!!!

~SOME
"X"TRA STUFF~
HOW
TO AVOID THE SPs BY MAKING ONE CUTS AND SCRIBBLING HAIR-DOs!!!
ONE
CUT FACES
Naturally,
as you are following a TEMPLATE, One Cut Face Flake MASTERPIECES are now
within your grasp!
You
can watch the path line of a template one cut face, by watching PM's kewl
video, located HERE.
If
this video is too quick for you, I attempted to make a diagram showing
you the "path". Unfortunately, today
my
Windows Paint program has decided to work only in black and white, so the
best I could do was make the
path
line in grey. I have "x"aggerated the path line so you may make it
out.
Start
at the "S" and make your nostrils. "X"it the flake and re-enter to
make the lips. "X"it again and re-enter
to
make the outline of the Face and then follow the lines shown for the eye
and eyebrow. Now come back down
the
side of the face and draw the outline of the hair going to the top of the
flake and once again "x"iting. Now
cut
out the bangs and "scribble in" the hair by following the outer edges of
the hair design, up and down until it
is
filled in. "X"it the triangle once again, fill out any empty spaces
on your creation triangle, take your cut around
the
outside of the flake clockwise (for the above 'x"ample), until you reach
the "S" again and release the mouse button.
PM
sent me kewl diagrams of how she makes one cut double faces. Here
they are and her instructions appear between the images.
"I
sent this diagram to Emmi a while back showing how I make a double face
(opposite sides) and keep them both positive. I had forgotten about it
until today and thought I'd send it on to you too, in case you think it
might be useful. The cut goes in order of green, purple, yellow, blue,
and orange, exiting each face at the top of the hair."
"I
also took a shot of how I line up my templates for making double faces.
I use this same set up for triple faces (two on one side, one on the other)
by setting the zoom % high (400 or so). I make the first two faces
as described above, up until exiting the top of the 2nd face. At that point,
I use the scroll wheel to move the triangle down and make the 3rd
face above the 2nd one using the left template again. (It stays lined up
when the triangle is moved up and down.) After exiting the 3rd face, finish
up like the blue and orange lines."
Below
is my attempt to "x"plain scribbling out the hair. Once again, I
have only grey to use, so it may not be easy to follow along :P
I
have placed another diagram below it showing the path line in an "easier
to see" format.
If
you follow the template one cut "path", the face design will be done, and
so will
the
outline of the hair. This pic shows the path to take when you get
to the bangs.
Enter the flake and make the bangs. Make "scribbles" that are similar to the outline of the hair, but slightly inside, and follow the outer hair design up to the top of the flake and "x"it. Re-enter once again slightly lower than your scribbles and follow the hair design again, this time back down and over the bangs and "x"it again. Re-enter and continue this 'back and fourth' scribble up and down until the hair has been filled. Then continue to finish your flake.
Although
the above image shows how to make a good "do", where the scribbled lines
overlap each other, I understand it is hard to follow as I am restricted
to no colors at this time. Below is another "x"ample of the pathline
I use, although it is severely understated so you may "see" the path better.
You
now have ALL the images and also ALL the info. you need to make
SENSATIONAL
worX on the slopes! I hope you will "x"ploit this amazing
technique
for all it is worth! ;)
