It was just over 1,000 and I missed it. We actually have to allow it to display more than 999! It's a good day in flake-land. Tim B. / Popular Front ![]() |

| Good
evening "X"
Sorry to disturb you on such a silly matter. But I'm having trouble with my mouse. It gets stuck and then starts to slide all over the place. So my husband has kindly gone and got me a new mat, also a new mouse but this time he has got me a laser one, that I find very hard to control. It doesn't like to do precise cuts for me. I used to have one with a ball under it. So I'd like to ask you which one in your opinion is a better mouse to control to do precise cuts. He has just phoned me and got me yet another ball mouse. But I just want one that will be easy to put a cut where I want the cut to go. Again sorry for this stupid query, I know it is much to the individual but I value your opinion. Many thanks, Carmelina x Hi Carmelina :) This is an area that I really should discuss here at the site, as MANY flakers ask me what I am using to make my flakes. I used to use an "old" mouse with a ball and had no problems with it, as long as I made sure the area with the ball was maintained and kept clean. If you look at the bottom of your mouse, you will see that it can be opened and the ball can be removed. If there is any dirt on the ball, remove it with soap and water. Also, there are 3 points inside that the ball contacts when it is in there. Remove any hair or lint on them and the mouse should work great again. I NOW am using a cheap lazer mouse (with a cord). I think it cost me a whole 10 dollars! I LOVE it and would never return to the old style mouse again. I do not even need a mouse pad! I couldn't draw straight lines with it though when I 1st got it, but that only took a day or two of practice to "get used to it". Really, a mouse is a personal preference sort of thing and the artist must choose what they prefer, but I swear by my lazer mouse and would recommend one to anyone! Good Luck! - X - |

| Hiyaz
X! I would like to be added to your mailing list please and thanks! Also,
thank you for this site. It has made me a much better flaker and a lot
more flakey, too! :P My flakes since finding your site have had more comments
than any other flakes I've made prior, which is so exciting!
My flaking alias this year is Mysteh 07. I added the 07 to designate this years flakes from those I made when I first discovered Snow Days last year. Too bad I didn't discover your site last year, too! Last years flakes are under Mysteh and when I search that, I see all of my flakes from each year, so I will probably continue to designate the year in my alias, making it ever changing. Unfortunately, I have a hard time with face flakes and ALTing but I am in love with the bubble flake technique and abuse it quite frequently. The Scissor Police still thwart my cuts regularly because of my inability to make Alt cuts and my innate desire to make loads of scrolls and swirls, so I dedicated a special flake to them. You can find it at #5573400. Thanks again so much for your site and Happiest of Holidays to you!! Regardz,

WINNER: NUTTY Once again, the Slopes went BONKERS with another fun filled "X" event! Flake number 5,555,555 has come and gone, but for those of us that were there, the memories shall last a long time to come! The Slopes started going "nutty" around 1000 flakes before the big number hit, with the flake count averaging around 35 flakes per minute. It went completely BONKERS after 5,555,000 hit and the average flakes made per minute rose to 50+ until 555 arrived. These are VERY high counts, even for this time of the year. Also, the high count for the Christmas Season flakes per minute (so far) has been made. 97 flakes per minute!
It is always surprising just how fast your heart rate goes up when trying for these flakes. I myself thought that blood was going to start squirting out of my ears because of my increased blood pressure, and I couldn't even win the prize, lol! As per the rules, the winner had to delete a comment I left on the flake and also contact me in writing afterwards. Nutty accomplished both tasks and is officially a winner. Here is her wonderful letter..... |

Hello Xsy! Sorry, I didn't mean to get the 5,555,555 LOL :o)~ woohooo yipppeeee,

(The following was a team effort between Toni and I!) :) Apologies
I send to you for taking 555

is a letter that Janet/UK forwarded to me from Kathy/PA...
I was happy and lucky enough to see a flake from Janna/Deployed in Iraq at 5545988 and though it would be a wonderful gesture if we would all go and visit and let Janna know of our total support for our military, preserving our freedom and wishing CHRISTmas greetings! Many thanks! Love, hugs and blessings, Kathy :) ThanX to you both :) I hope placing the letter and number here will help ;) |

| Oh,
Mister X, what have you done, you man of mystery?
You've fed the frenzied, flaking fire in simple folks like me! You spur us on to greater things, to flaking mastery! You give us hints so we can be the best that we can be. We really do appreciate the lengths to which you go, to give us tips'n'trix'n'things for playing in the snow. THANX! -- *HUGS* from Toni :o) Oh, Toni - Dearest Flaker Friend, you're such a treat to know. I can't believe how many folks, like you, are in the Snow! You make my "job" a fun event for me, & ALL to see. You make great flakes, but also, fill our hearts with love and GLEE! ThanX so much for writing me this heart felt flakey poem. ThanX again, because of YOU, I KNOW that I'm at "home"! - X - |

| My
dear Mr. X.....I could never make a straight line to save my soul, and
here I am an artist. It amazed me to see how straight yours were. Then
you shared your "secret" with all of us...the Alt key...WOW...has that
ever changed the way that I flake now. I have learned so much since I joined
your site. You are the nicest and most unselfish artist I have ever known.
Many like to keep the "secrets" to themselves and be the only one who can
do a certain thing. I actually had a message left once from a flaker who
said "kopycat"....WELL....now don't we all learn from each other? When
you see something a flaker does and you want to go ahead and experiment
and see if you can do it too, it is so much fun ...learning is one of the
greatest things on earth ...and we never ever stop learning ...we learn
from each other ...that certainly is not copying...ask PM...hahahah..or
ask you....because I copy from you guys all the time...recently PM did
a lovely flake with writing on it and I was amazed and could not wait to
try it....I did....LOL...it was not as nice as hers of course but what
fun....It is so wonderful that there are so many wonderful friends on your
site and meeting them on the Slopes and comparing notes is about the most
relaxing thing that I can do.......You are loved Mr. X SuperFlaker......It
is a pleasure to advertise for you...that is...when this old mind of mine
can remember to do it.............God bless.....Ria
Dearest Ria... Such a wonderful letter deserves a BIG reply....so here goes! 1st and foremost, I should probably confess to you that I was once one of those "selfish artists" that liked to keep his "secrets" to himself. To begin with, I was the same on the Slopes, but quickly realized that sharing my techniXes would not "ruin" my individuality there. Telling others how to make cuts in a flake, (or strokes on a painting, etc.), is fine and SAFE, as it does not allow another person to steal your "signature". For instance, even if a famous artist such as Picasso or Van Gogh could teach us their "x"act strokes and techniXes used to make their paintings, we certainly couldn't capture their individual "style". I NOW know that sharing information artistically is the ONLY way to go! 2nd, I would like to mention that when I first started making straight lines, there was NO Alt technique. I wish there had been, as it would have made trying to describe straight lines to others MUCH easier for me! The ALT technique "came to be" by flakers sharing their information with each other. Mark SiX came on the scene with some truly ground breaking flakes that "wowed" all of us in Flakeville. He was making perfect straight lines by using the ALT+TAB buttons. Then Toni wrote to me about how she was doing the same thing with ONLY the ALT button. After I finally "caught up" to these AWESOME toys being used, I shared the info. with all on SnowDays and the rest, as they say, is HISTORY!!! Yet another testament to the POWER of sharing techniXes! The more we share, the more we LEARN! 3rd, copying is the GREATEST form of flattery! As mentioned, one cannot TRULY copy another's "signature", but it sure is fun to try! Even if we trace another's work, it shows our own individuality in its final design. Now, about PM's flakes that you mentioned... I am so proud of her. This is a person with NO artistic background, yet has proven to be one of Flakeville's MOST artistic individuals. PM has told me that she learned ALL she knows from MisterX.ca, and THAT is a wonderful accomplishment to me! To be able to "x"pose someone's God given gift like that is truly a delight, and thus I KNOW I am doing SOMETHING right! I know of the flakes of hers with the writing on them that you are refering to. I thought she had only made one, but when I went to look it up in the search, I was thrilled to see she had "x"perimented with SEVERAL of them! PM's "It's a SnowDay" flakes are instant classiX!
SEARCH: NAME-PM / LOCATION-ARK / MESSAGE - ITS A SNOWDAY It is truly MY PLEASURE to be able to "share" all I know about flake making, and when I hear your GREAT enthusiasm, it gives me the strength to continue with my work. ThanX so much for your FABULOUS letter, Ria! :DDDDD - X - |

Flakers,
As we ALL know, the Slopes were in SERIOUS disarray for quite some time! I DID, of course, get MANY emails during this time, but as I was taking "time off", they weren't published here. Flakeville is now running properly again, and oddly enough, so am I! (And so is MisterX.ca!) ALL has been restored to "normal" at BOTH sites, so feel free to drop me a line, no matter what your thoughts and comments are! If they are worthy, they shall appear HERE! ;) ttys~

| Dear
Flakers,
My own frustrations with the Slopes is almost beyond description! I am unable to make flakes, search flakes, and often can't get into Flakeville at all. I know many of you have sent me flakes and comments, but alas, I cannot check them or leave my comments back to you. I can only handle so much aggravation. I'm taking a break! I will be noticeably absent until SnowDays is running properly once again. If and when that happens, I'll see you there! - X - |

| Oh
my goodness X!!! You know there is a big problem when you're dreaming about
flakes!!-I had a dream that the flakes were in color!! That we could actually
pick what color we wanted our flake to be in!! -Wouldn't that be
fun!!- Geez...Even when I'm sleeping I'm flaky!!!! Hope all is well.
Have a great day!!
Happy dreaming! ~Linda LOL! That is hilarious, Linda! I have also had dreams about SnowDays, and yes, the flakes were in COLOR! The site had a different background and when an animated flake fell as a tiny "dot" flake, it would "pulsate" so the flakers knew to check it out! Who knows? Maybe our dreams are showing us the future! - X - |

| SORRY
MISTER X, IT WAS FUN WHILE IT LASTED, JUST LOSING TOO MANY FLAKES. OH WELL,
TAKE CARE.
NICK ARIZONA Dear Nick...I KNOW how frustrating the Slopes can be at this time of the year, especially when we lose flakes that we have worked very hard on. I have also been losing them, but have found if I wait long enough (sometimes 5 minutes) the program WILL eventually accept the flake. If it is driving you batty, please take a break and try again in a few days, as I am sure Popular Front will be working on this MOST IRRITATING "GLITCH". If you leave for good, MANY of us would miss YOU & your FLAKES! - X - |

| Hello
from downunder MisterX. Today I pulled up my own name in the search box
out of curiosity to see how many flakes I have done. The search box pulled
up 1009 flakes. This is odd because I made my 1000th flake a few days ago
and by my records here I have made 1070 in total. (I am keeping my
flake numbers in a notebook) My math is bad, but I dont think it's that
bad, LOL. Any suggestions as to why the number the search function is showing
is so 'off', or have I discovered another glitch at a busy time of year?
I must say thank you to you for your wonderful work on your website and
for your encouragement to new flakers. Also to yourself and other seasoned
flakers for generously sharing your knowledge and experience so freely
with anyone who wants to learn how. I love the changes you made to your
pages for Christmas!!! They look fabulous and I am having a wonderful time
searching out your flakes and those you recommend we seek out!
peace and healing ladychiara Hi LadyChiara :) There is an ongoing problem with the search feature at SnowDays. Popular Front is working on it and have informed me that it is a problem with their server provider. They said that they are working with them to fiX it, but they haven't been too "snappy" about it. rest assured, it shall be working again SOON! Also, many thanX for your kind words about MisterX.ca , it is MUCH appreciated! - X - |

| Good
morning Xy :)
Why is it that, when reaching the limit on 'flashers', they never seem to open up the same way twice??I've just watched one several times, and each time the final 'flash' is different. I've noticed this phenomenon before, but never gave it much thought at the time LOL Serves me right for 'thinking' ! Have
a great day, and a greater weekend my friend :)
I wondered if anyone else had ever noticed that! I have known about it for years, but as no one has EVER mentioned it to me, I haven't bothered talking about it, (go figure!). Of course, on the newer "mega fast" puters, this will not even be noticable, but on our "x"perienced machines it is, and I think that the reason is this... As the SnowDays program is tied directly into our computers, the first time we watch a flake "load", it is a fraction slower than the second time we watch it load. The first time is usually the BEST unfolding. Afterwards, our puters have all the info, so it unfolds quicker. Also, I have mentioned on the site in several areas that the program shows each cut individually and in order, but NOW I am thinking that (depending on your puter's speed) it actually takes short cuts and on some flakes, especially lonnnng animations, it sometimes takes shortcuts and omits some of those cuts while unfolding. Of course, I could be completely wrong, lol! Happy
Friday, my Flakey Friend!

| Hello,
thank you Mister X for sending me the Flake Death, etc.
It has happened to me quite a few times, I just thought that I had done something wrong, as I find myself clicking on it and then off the screen, twirling my mouse over the area trying to make it come back. Then at other times I see a blank flake coming down when I'm looking to see if anything happened. I'm glad that I wasn't doing anything wrong. Also, sometimes when I get a message from someone, and I look it up, the number comes up with someone else's design and not a mention at all of the person who sent me a message. Not sure what I'm doing wrong there. I click on the number on my e-mail under check it out on. And then get confused by what I'm seeing. Also when I click on it sometimes to see what the message is that I have been left by some kind flaker, I find my flake all right, then read the message that has been left, hit the response, whilst their name and message is showing, type my message back, and then low and behold I get a message in my e-mail saying that I have responded to my own flake. So then I go into a spin and don't know if the kind person who left me a message has received my message or not, and then I go in and leave another message to the person. Then again I sometimes, not every time get a message telling myself that I've responded to myself. HELP........ I haven't caught it yet to see which site it's coming from. Because it doesn't always happen. But when I do get messages back it flits from Snowdays to Make a Snowflakes. I don't know why because I always go into Snowdays. I thought it was because the other person has seen my flake on Make a Snowflakes. I have become a member on that site too, as when looking at my flake it sometimes comes up with a totally different flake from someone else, so I thought the only way out was to sign up with them too. But still getting problems every now and again. Basically I just want to know what I am doing wrong. When I get notification of someone leaving me a message what are the correct steps that I should follow?? Maybe I'm doing something wrong in the process that I follow. Who knows????? Anyway sorry about this long message, I'm sure that you are far too busy for this. It's just that I'd like to understand what I'm doing wrong, as I'm only on my 3rd day flaking. Thank you for your kind help and take care. See ya TTYS,
Now,
about you getting the wrong flake falling...
Also, you should know that you can make a response on any of your flakes, and the flakers on BOTH sites can read it. Furthermore, if you make a flake at one site, it will be seen on the other as well! The 2 separate web sites are essentially the SAME web site, only seen at 2 different locations. ...BIZARRE! If a flaker at SnowDays sees your flake and comments on it, you will get a SnowDays Greeting in your mail. If a flaker from the Make-a-Snowflake site sees it and responds to it, you will get one of THEIR greetings instead. You can respond to these comments from either location and that person will get it! (That is, if THEY left their email address on your flake!) :) ALSO, remember that if you leave your email address on someone else's flake, YOU will be notified every time ANY ONE responds to the OTHER person's flake too! It can be difficult to keep track of at times, but always try to remember the flake numbers you have checked out, so you can just delete those "x"tra greetings you find for the same flake number. Any emails you get saying that YOU responded to your OWN flake can also be deleted. I hope all this information helps you. Write me a long letter, get a LONG answer, LOL! If I can be of further assistance to you, please do not hesitate to ask~ Happy
Flaking!

| (Re:
Ad-Flake your way to a Featured Flake!)
----- Thanks Mister X. I do have your ad on most all of my flakes. I for one have improved tremendously since I first made flakes. Thanks so much for your TIPS'N'TRIX . It has helped me very much besides the fun of trying them & combining some to make a different look. You have seen the logo I made to advertise your site. I love the comments that some say about it & how I made the border around it. Well the secret is that I got it from your symbols & used it to make the border to fit around it. When some ask me about it I tell them I got it from Mister X's web site. Thanks for your web site. A great teaching site. NORMA from TEXAS. Thanks for your site for it has helped me very much. ThanX, Norma! As you well know, I appreciate your efforts more than I can tell you! Yes, your "ad-flakes" are MOST original with the most "x"cellent symbols you incorporate into them. Real eye catchers! Please keep up the wonderful work! - X - |

| Hi
Mister X,
Thanks for all the good stuff about the "glitches". Have been on the receiving end of several of them and am getting quite cranky (or is it crankier?). Have been sending new people to your site, but must say I am ambivalent about it as it means even more traffic. If things progress in this fashion we will hit 6,000,000 flakes very soon. If you are in contact with the powers that be over at Snow Days please let them know about a problem that I have with the new site. I cannot register or sign in with my current flaker name as it has a number in it (Anon22). I do not wish to start another name as this is what I am recognized by. For now if I get a response from the other site and wish to answer it I have to go back to our site and respond there. It can be time consuming and annoying. I can hear you saying so just change your name, but I kind of like my little Anon22 as it goes with my little flakes. By the way, it would be nice to have some simple flakes as your special flake of the week or month or just noticed. After all, that is what snowflakes are...simple and gentle. Happy Holidays! Anon22 Hi Anon22 :) Here is a suggestion for you... If you were to make your registered name say, "AnonXX" at the new site and then make a flake there, before sending it off you could just backspace the "XX" part out of it and then replace that with "22". It may seem like a bit of a hassle, but after a few flakes it will become 2nd nature and STILL saves you a lot of time, as your name (mostly) will be there and your email address as well! As for worrying about sending flakers to my site, remember that this seasonal traffic is just that...SEASONAL! After the holiday season, things will be back to "normal", with the "x"ception of (hopefully) a FEW new "addicts" on the Slopes to join our flakey family! As for the Featured Flakes... I DO indeed intend to Feature some new talent, as well as a few from we flaking pros! I think it is important to remember though, that Featured flakes here are meant to demonstrate what can be done at SnowDays with the TriX found at MisterX.ca Happy Holidays 2 U 2! :) - X - |

| Dear
Mr.X
I LOVE LOVE LOVE your web site! It has such a KEWL feel about it and the images you have used there always delight me when I log on. Seems everytime I visit, I find something new that I didn't notice before. Is this because you just added it, or just because I am not looking hard enough the first time I visited? Anyway, it is awesome and so are you. I am just starting to learn the tips and tricks and am truly surprised to see they work just as you say they do. Thank you so much for your effort, you make flaking even more fun! Cathy Wow! ThanX, Cathy :) The site has MANY areas that can only be seen if you happen to click the right link on a specific page, so that keeps things "interesting", especially for new folks that visit. Also, I do try to add new content whenever time allows for it. So happy to hear you are enjoying yourself :) Happy Flaking! - X - |

| Hi
X!! How r u doing?? Do we like the new site?? Is it a "bad" thing or "good"
thing??? And...How can they do that? I really don't know how stuff like
this works. Thanx, Linda :)
Hiya, Linda :) Well, I think the new site is a "good thing", as it is bringing MANY new flakers to the scene. However, like MOST "hard-core flaking addicts", I prefer MY SnowDays! The new site is a kewl "novelty" to play with, but it loses that aspect quickly for me. I DO like the feature of having the email and name, etc. automatically filled out, and also I like the colors on the creation triangle better there, but I dislike the advertising and the bright white page it is located on. As for "how do they do that?", I couldn't say. Obviously both sites are tied into the same program and the computers running it at Popular Front. You'd have to ask them for the details! - X - |

are some comments I got from flakers after sending out a letter to my Mailing
List entitled ' Flake Death & other irritating "glitches"! '.

busy times like the holiday season and also had many screen shots of them.
If you would like to see the letter, just sign

| Mister
X;
I don't understand how to get my snowflake to be animated like other's I've seen. I don't understand how to do more than one negative. I try, but it just disappears altogether. I don't understand the 'melting star'. I do it just like the depiction, but nothing happens and I just end up with a star. Thanks for your site. It's awesome. I have learned some interesting stuff but I'm a sponge and I want to learn more! Madison, Phoenix Howdy,

| Dear
Mister X
I am sorry to have to email you AGAIN over this matter but, well maybe you can explain to me what its wrong with my PC (apart form it being full of pics!). I have managed to get SnowDays up fine, but i still can't get snow to fall, and I get that window opening up saying to try again later, but if I search for a snowflake I can get the one snowflake coming down but none follow it. It baffles me to think I can get one snowflake, why should this be so? I get everything else. Best
wishes for the weekend,

| Good
Morning Mr. X,
Love your site all decked out for Christmas, you always do a wonderful job with fixing it up. Thanks for taking the extra time to do so. About the sister site, I do have a question. Will the sister site be around after Christmas? I was so shocked when I got the response email on one of my flakes from this site. There are a few things I do love about this site...one of them being the triangle is on a navy blue background. It really helps me to see the flake a bit better and it shows more of the detail. Plus when the flake drops down from the sky it looks better, to me anyway. When I see the same flake on the SnowDays site.....doesn't look as pretty. Also, love the fact that my email addy is already there. It doesn't bother me to see the advertisements, I just look at the flakes! Now keep those beautiful flakes of yours coming. One day...I do hope to be at least 1/100th as good as you. I will keep working at it. God Bless...Elaine Hiya,
Elaine! :D

| Dear
MisterX,
I am new to this business of flake making and have a complaint. Why didn't I find these sites years ago? I started by finding Better Homes and Gardens' flake site, then got an email from the Snowdays site and discovered it. As if these 2 sites weren't awesome enough, I found your site address on a flake and tried out some of your tips and now can't stay away from these places. Could you please sign me up to your mailing list so I may become a part of your flaky family? Best
regards,
PS - When's the next flaking contest? I can hardly wait! Welcome,
Janice! Of course you can join our "family". The more, the
merrier! I have added you to my mailing list and look forward to
seeing what you create on the slopes. As for the neXt contest, we
will have to wait until I get the funds to have one. The flaking
community funds these themselves through donations I receive, and I JUST
gave away my profits for the 5,000,000th flake and previously to a ZERO
GAME V.3! Rest assured, if and when I get enough to host another
one, I shall! :)))))
