“X” already explained How to Make a Straight Line.  I discovered that using that technique I can create flowers and stars which give depth and dimension!  To achieve the feathered effect, simply use many straight lines…the closer the lines the more feathery the flake appears.

STEP 1
Make a straight line which extends downward and OUTSIDE the bottom margin.  DO NOT release the mouse yet!
Continue the same line under the margin and slightly to your right.

(Continue the same line under the margin and slightly to your right.  You should see something like the picture above.)
STEP 2
Now release your mouse.  The computer will fill in the third line!

(This is what the computer is doing when it creates that third line.)
STEP 3
Your flake should now look something like this!

(The computer has now filled in the 3rd line.)
STEP 4
Make another cut using the same technique next to the first cut.

(Continue making your cuts side by side to achieve the feathered effect.)
You have created the beginning of a Feather Flake!  Remember that your Feather Flake will appear more or less feathery,   depending on how closely you space your cuts.  Use your imagination to fill in the rest of the flake!  : )
X-NOTE:  I would just like to add that the closer you space your cuts, AND the THINNER they are, will result in a wonderfully animated flake! : )

ThanX Marilyn!  Your directions are as great as your flakes!  : D
