Shalina
is probably the 1st "other" flaker I ever "spoke" to at Snowdays.
In those days I was VERY private and took my name "X" quite seriously,
so visiting online wasn't my biggest priority by any means, but Shalina
has a personality that shines even brighter than her snowflakes.
She is intelligent, bubbly, uplifting (usually!), and has a sharp wit that
is often hard to come by. I guess I just couldn't resist answering
her comments! × As
we are both HUGE fans of each other's flakes, we ended up sending and getting
a lot of responses from one another and after a while we were "meeting"
daily in the afternoons to flake and chat. Naturally, we got to know each
other very well and eventually started sharing our (in those days) TOP
SECRET techniques with one another. This had a big impact on both
of our flaking styles. × One
day, jokingly, I asked Shalina if she would do me the honor of being my
"Snowflake Bride", as we had "shared" everything else with each other.
To my surprise, Shalina agreed! This resulted in us having a litter
of "snowflake babies". (Learn more about our Snowflake

flakes are indescribably beautiful. She is another one of those flakers
that just "stands out" in the crowd. She usually uses some sort of
swiping technique of the mouse that she has mastered and nobody else has
yet duplicated. I have tried (and failed) several times. ×
You
might have heard Shalina discuss the "Apex" on a flake in the past.
She is referring to the "glow" that is present in almost all of her flakes.
She masterfully uses the positive and negative spaces to create the ApeX
which is a major factor in the beauty of her snowflakes. ×
Shalina
has also pioneered several important flaking styles and techniques.
She is the "inventor" of the Bubble Flake and also the "official" discoverer
of the Negative flake, (others may have found this move before her, but
Shalina was the first to be able to repeat it on demand and also to "x"plain
how it is done to other flakers). She is also partly responsible
for my Super Nova flakes, as it was she that made a "flake being eaten
away by acid" that sent me off in that direction. As Shalina put
it so well to me, "your site wouldn't even "x"ist without ME!", and that
could very well be true! ×

Do
you have a favorite style of flake?:
Oh ya, "X" used to make those geometriX ones all the time and that style
really amazes me. I also love flakes that look real, delicate
and mesmerizing

How
would you best describe your own flakes and style?:
I usually shade my flakes because I am quite lazy when it comes to making
them. If I shade them first, they turn out in that "Shalina style"...whatever
that is. I actually have made all sorts of
styles of flakes, but the shaded ones make me the happiest. I get
in what I call a "flake rut" and I tend to get stuck on one style for a
long time before I tire of it.

is there a message or anything else that you would like to be mentioned
on your page?:
I
have always loved real snowflakes, and am fascinated by their beauty and
perfection. I sometimes wonder why God would go to all the trouble of making
something so small and fragile, to care about all the little details of
a snowflake...and then it melts.
I find it absolutely gratifying to “create” flakes on Snowdays, alongside
so many other unique and fun people. I love making flakes that others
enjoy, and I have gotten to know a few people from all over the world
in the process. I must say that “X” is one of those people I have
had the pleasure of befriending on here, and he is really funny, intelligent
and and and…I’d better stop or I will embarrass him..LOL
