NINE: SAVING YOUR IMAGE - PROPER RENDERING
STEP
10: Rendering &
Final Image
There
are different ways you can save your images, including taking a full screen
shot of a "quick render" and cropping it
with
a program such as IRFANVIEW. I did this for the first few weeks,
as I didn't know how to do a "proper render", but after
doing
so, I can assure you that the proper render is the way to go. It
will give you more detail and allows for saving on a much
larger
scale than a screenshot ever could.
Below is how this is done, and again, it is easy. Especially after just a few tries ;)
Click
on the RENDER "wheel" as shown in the image below. Again, a new window
appears...
You
can pick the quality of your render as shown below. As one would
imagine, the higher the number, the clearer
your
image will appear. However, it should be noted that your render time
will also increase with a higher quality
number.
I always use "4000", but you can still get high quality images using "2000".
You
can also choose the size you wish your finished fractal to be. Use
the drop down menu to select the width, and
be
sure that the "maintain aspect ratio" is checked off so you don't distort
the final image's dimensions. Once again,
the
larger you make your image, the longer the rendering time will be.
Another
thing that will increase or decrease rendering time is the BUFFER DEPTH.
I use "64", for maXimum clearness,
but
once again, using 32-bit will make you a nice image and reduce the rendering
time. I guess this whole area depends
on
how much patience you have to see your finished fractal work. The
rendering process can take as little as 1 minute,
or
can take well over an hour until completion. These settings will
greatly effect how much time this all will take.
***
HANDY "X" TIP! ***
REMEMBER
WHEN I WAS DISCUSSING THAT YOU SHOULD ZOOM OUT ON YOUR FRACTAL TO AT LEAST
"-1.0", (see ADJUST OPTIONS
- CAMERA),
THEN
COMPENSATE FOR THE REDUCTION BY USING THE "SCALE"? THIS IS THE REASON
WHY. YOUR RENDERING TIME WILL BE GREATLY REDUCED!
Now,
you're going to have to save your fractal to somewhere on your computer,
and that somewhere is, of course,
totally
up to YOU! I made a new folder on my desktop called "RENDERS" that
all mine go into, but you can save them
to
anywhere you please, just as long as you can remember where that is!
You can save them to MY PICTURES, or any
other
folder you already have or make. Click on the OPEN FOLDER icon as
shown below to choose your own area.
Apophysis
will automatically name your fractal for you. It just uses the file
name that you did to create your work.
You
will most likely want to give your fractal a different name, and this is
how you do it. Go to the END of the
file
name "path" as seen below, then click and backspace out the name APO gave
to your fractal, (in this case,
that
would be the "Apophysis-080630-1" part.)
Now,
type in whatever name you want in the area. Go figure, I named this
one "www.MisterX.ca"! Be sure you leave
the
file "x"tension at the end, (.jpg). You can save your fractal in
several different formats, such as .gif, or .png, but
I
think .jpg is your best bet! ;D
Now,
click on the RENDER button! You will see the RENDER WINDOW open up,
and a scale will appear to give you the
approX.
time that your render will take. BE PATIENT! Your masterpiece
is being created be the program and will be in
your
folder when it is complete. This is quite a stage, as you don't know
what the final product will look like until it is
done.
Will it come out super clear, or will there be grains? Will there
be light distortion, or did you darken it just right?
For
the most part, I usually find myself saying, "oh, WOW!", when I finally
get to see the finished work. It is WELL worth
the
wait, as it usually will turn out far better than I had "x"pected it would.
There's only 1
thing left to do, and that's pressing the RENDER button!
Let's go to STEP
10 to see what happens and to view my final creation.
