WOW, TOTALLY AMAZING!!!
If you were there, you KNOW how insane the slopes were for the arrival of the 5 millionth flake.
It came sooo quickly that it took many flakers by surprise.  In fact, the last 1000 flakes made prior
to the 5 millionth went in just a few minutes and it was a "SNOW DAY" the entire time!  I had 9
windows open for the event and had to quickly make my flakes at 4,999,500.  I got them done in
time, but was wayyy off in my release of them.  I was still making anon flakes when I realized
that the 5 millionth had come and gone already!  The flake was created a few minutes after
7:00 PM / Mountain Time

THE NUMBERS:

A new record was set, with an INCREDIBLE 147 flakes made per minute!  That's approX. 2½ flakes
made per SECOND!!!  The above screen shot was taken only a few moments after the big event.
Notice that the counter is already 91 flakes past 5 million!

78 flakers were there at the crucial moment.  MOST IMPRESSIVE, to say the least, as I know
there were many flakers that were sleeping, or otherwise were unable to attend this event.
Several flakers informed me that they had checked the counter and saw it was still thousands
away, so went away with the intention of returning later when it was closer, only to find that
the BIG flake had already come and gone by the time they did so!

Woo-Hoo!  Flakeville partied hard for the arrival of number 5 million!  An astonishing 6,259
flakes were made for the daily count as flakers pumped out their flakes in anticipation!

AND THE WINNER IS...
MARK/APPLETON nabbed the special flake and he did so almost accidentally!  Mark sent
me a letter describing how it happened...

I can hardly believe it! I had about 10 flakes made up and was just watching others and doing a few anon flakes.   It started getting close so I thought, "what the heck, I'll just start adding them and then see who gets the big one".   Was I ever surprised when the very first one I released was 5,000,000.   There are so many other flakers out there that make such wonderful flakes,  I am almost embarrassed that I was the one that got it.
